entwining; old lady hands holding diamonds & spades, making out with wrinkled red lips, dying an old maid; angela with deep brown skin in the second grade, touching on the playground at recess, stroking long black braids i remember the lines in your back & your face before the falling of blinds & shades, the pale moist parts of skin wrapped in band-aids for a week; trying to heal as to evade, the grip of his eyes or the venom he'd trade for the things that i hide and what i'll give away, entwining; marlisa's skinny elbows and wrists and her jangling jade, sliding around her bones, and my cliched desire for her rattling insides, though she complained when her heavy heart was weighed:the dizzy spells; on sunday i'm licking homemade whipped cream from blender blades, nails to upper arm, edges to ends, bleeding through denim, unswayed. on saturday i am the morning, sweet, sore, and angry sipping strawberry lemonade, i am in a black skirt and lint covered in your putrid smell, messy hair unmade. entwined, unwind; the blade&the blood taste the same;like metal, between my teeth, good grief, manicmovementdisarray; splayedweighed; pretendprayed.
