strawberries cherries & an angel's kiss in spring

playing with two little boys. a train set and hard wood floors. conductors hat. little boy a, thoroughly engrossed in trainset. sound effects. little boy b, very little. rests his pointer finger, middle finger, and ring finger on the track. i watch him. the train turns the corner. hits the fingers. train off tracks. little boy a clocks little boy b. bloody nose. his blood drips on my skirt. i carry him. screaming. he bleeds into the sink. i clean up the mess. they go to sleep. quiet house. minus my thighs on the leather couch, rubbing. bloodied skirt. fingers. getting. off. on the job.
